Name numerology is the older half of the practice: every letter carries a number, and the totals describe what you are built to do, what actually motivates you, and how strangers read you before you open your mouth. Every result below comes with a plain-English explanation, not a horoscope.
Also called the Destiny or Expression number. Calculated from all the letters of the name you were given at birth, it points at what you are built to do — the role you keep getting pushed into, whether or not it is on your business card.

11, 22 and 33 are master numbers and are not reduced further. If any step lands on one, it stays as it is.

A calculator gives you the raw numbers. It cannot weigh them against each other — and that is where the real information is. A Name number 8 with a Soul 2 is a very different person from a Name 8 with a Soul 5, and no free tool will tell you that, because the answer depends on which tension is currently running your life.

A, E, I, O and U. Y is the awkward one: most practitioners count it as a vowel only when it carries the vowel sound in that name — as in Lynn or Bryn, but not in Yolanda. This calculator follows that rule.

Use the birth name for your core chart. A name you have used for years does carry weight, so it is worth calculating both — the gap between them often explains a period when your life changed direction.
Include every middle name on the birth certificate. Leave out suffixes such as Jr or III. Accented letters are read as their base letter, so Á counts as A.
11, 22 and 33 are left unreduced because they are treated as intensified versions of 2, 4 and 6 — more potential and more friction at the same time. If your result is one of them, the calculator says so explicitly.
