The Life Path number is the one most people meet first, and the one that carries the most weight. It comes from your full date of birth, it never changes, and it describes the road rather than the traveller: the problems that keep coming back, the work that comes easily, and the trade-off you will be asked to make over and over.
What the Life Path number shows
Everything else in a chart describes a part of you. The Life Path describes the shape of the life those parts are living in. It is the difference between asking what someone is like and asking what keeps happening to them.
In practice it answers three things. What drives you when nothing is forcing you. Which situations you handle well without trying, and which ones cost you disproportionately. And what the recurring cost of your own temperament is — the bill that arrives every few years in a slightly different envelope.
It does not change with your name, your marriage, your country or your job. That is exactly why it is the anchor of a reading: everything else is measured against it.
How to work it out
Each part of the date is reduced on its own, and only then added together. Month, day and year separately — never the whole date in one long sum.
Take Ren Morillo, born 03.28.1990:
Day — 28 → 2+8 = 10 → 1
Year — 1990 → 1+9+9+0 = 19 → 1+9 = 10 → 1
Total — 3+1+1 = 5 → Life Path 5
The order matters more than it looks. Adding every digit of the date in one sum will often give you a different answer, and the difference is not a rounding error — it invents master numbers that are not there, and loses the ones that are.
Three rules most calculators get wrong
A master number in the day stays whole. Someone born on the 11th does not become a 2 in the sum. The 11 goes into the addition as 11. This alone changes the result for a large number of people.
November is not a master month. The eleventh month is counted as 1+1, not as 11. In practice the master-number quality almost never shows up in people born in November, and treating it as an 11 produces a chart with gaps that are not real.
A zero or a nine does not change the value. 10 reduces to 1, 19 reduces to 1, and 20 and 29 are numerologically the same number. This is why there is no 20/2 here — a 20 is a hidden 11.
