Personality Number

Written by Ren Alen Opus Numerology Services

The sum of the consonants in your birth name: the first impression you make on people who don't know you yet.

The Personality Number is the sum of the consonants in your full birth name; in the calculator it appears as your Outer Self. It shows the mask you wear in front of strangers: the picture people form of you before they know you, and your first reaction to a new person or a new task.

Don't confuse it with your Day Number, which this method also calls your personality type. The Day Number is who you actually are. The Personality Number is only the first impression that your look, gestures, voice and style project, an unconscious defense against getting hurt, and it often doesn't match reality.

In everyday numerology it is the least significant of the core numbers, because it describes an impression rather than real behavior. Its real use is when you meet people. If it sharply contradicts your Day Number, people can take you for a hypocrite, because you show one face first and live by another. Reading someone else's tells you what they are trying to show you, and whether it is the real thing or just a front.

How to work it out

Take the consonants of your full birth name (every letter except A, E, I, O and U) and add their values from the same letter chart used for the Destiny Number (A, J, S = 1 through I, R = 9). Reduce the total by adding its digits until one digit is left; 11, 22 and 33 stay whole.

A Y or a W counts here when it sounds like a consonant, as the Y in Yolanda or the W in William. Their value stays the same (Y = 7, W = 5). The calculator treats them as consonants unless you mark them as vowels.

Example 1: Daniel Hughes
D 4 + N 5 + L 3 + H 8 + G 7 + H 8 + S 1 = 36 → 3+6 = 9

Example 2: Emily Rose Carter
M 4 + L 3 + R 9 + S 1 + C 3 + R 9 + T 2 + R 9 = 40 → 4+0 = 4
Check: the Soul total (38) plus the Personality total (40) gives the Destiny total, 78.
