Day Number

Written by Ren Alen Opus Numerology Services

The day of the month you were born on: who you are, what you are good at and how you get things done.

Your Day Number comes from the day of the month you were born on. After the Life Path, it is the number that shapes your personality most: who you are, what you are good at and how you actually get things done. In this method it is also called your personality type.

It is there from childhood and grows stronger over the years. Around thirty it takes over from the birth-month number, and it runs the most productive stretch of your life until roughly fifty-five, when it slowly softens and changes shape. The exact changeover age depends on your Life Path, somewhere between about 26 and 35.

Where the Life Path is the goal, the Day Number is the toolkit: the skills and instincts you reach for to get there, and the role you actually fill at work and in relationships without anyone assigning it. Don't confuse it with the Personality Number, which comes from the consonants of your name.

How to work it out

Take only the day of the month. If it has two digits, add them together, and keep adding until one digit is left. 11 and 22 are master numbers and stay whole. The month and the year play no part here.

Example: born 03.28.1990
Day: 28 → 2+8 = 10 → 1+0 = 1

  • The 11th and the 22nd stay 11 and 22.
  • The 29th gives 2+9 = 11 and stops there.
  • The 20th reduces to 2, but it is a borderline case, a hidden 11: most people born on the 20th recognize themselves more in the 11 than in the 2. Read both.
  • There is no 33 Day Number. No day of the month can produce one.

The numbers as Day Number

1

Day Number 1

Leader, director

As a Day Number, the 1 gives you the tools of someone who takes charge: you decide quickly, move first and handle problems alone, often with an original fix. At work you steer even when you are not the boss, and you are better at launching things than at seeing the details through.

Born on the 1st, 10th, 19th or 28th.

Strengths
  • Quick decisions under pressure
  • First to tackle a new task
  • Original solutions instead of the usual ones

Shadow side
  • Impatient with slower people
  • Bored by detailed, painstaking work
  • Struggles to take orders
  • Asks for help late, if ever
2

Day Number 2

Supporter

As a Day Number, the 2 works best beside someone else: patient, detail-minded and diplomatic, it senses what people need and keeps shared work together. It is strongest in supporting, partner and behind-the-scenes roles, and weakest when it has to lead, compete or decide alone.

Born on the 2nd; the 20th also reduces to 2, but it is a borderline case (a hidden 11), and most people born on the 20th recognize themselves more in the 11.

Strengths
  • Catches the mistake in the details
  • Calms tension within a team
  • Senses what the other person needs
  • Reliable on long, careful tasks
Shadow side
  • Keeps quiet about what bothers it
  • Puts off decisions
  • Can't say no to extra work
  • Freezes up when rushed
3

Day Number 3

Networker, entertainer

As a Day Number, the 3 gets things done through people and words: it builds contacts fast, persuades, entertains and keeps a group moving. It needs feedback and visible results, and it loses momentum in isolated, monotonous work.

4

Day Number 4

Precise, persistent

As a Day Number, the 4 works step by step: planned, precise, on schedule and built to last. It is the backbone people count on, and it tends to rise through experience and endurance rather than by fighting for the lead.

Born on the 4th, 13th or 31st; the 22nd is not a 4, it stays a 22.

Strengths
  • Organized, step-by-step work
  • Meets deadlines exactly
  • Sticks with long, monotonous jobs
  • Does the work instead of talking about it
Shadow side

Born on the 5th, 14th or 23rd.

Strengths
  • Adapts instantly to change
  • Several solutions to one problem

6

Day Number 6

Team player

As a Day Number, the 6 gets results through cooperation and care: it keeps the peace, looks after people, takes its share of responsibility and makes its surroundings pleasant. It is at its best in a team and in a middle position, and uneasy with risky decisions it has to make alone.

  • Finds the root of a problem
  • Keeps a backup plan ready

As a Day Number, the 9 sees the task in its bigger context, learns almost anything quickly and moves people with an inspiring goal. It is better at planning, directing and persuading than at practical details, which it gladly hands to someone else.

Born on the 9th, 18th or 27th.

Day Number 11

Master Intuitive, star

As a Day Number, the 11 works on intuition and logic at once: it reads people and situations without being told, draws attention and comes up with unusual solutions. It is strongest in front of people or at a leader's side, and it needs a regular outlet for the tension it picks up from others.

Born on the 11th or 29th; people born on the 11th usually show the dominant side, while those born on the 20th often read as a quieter 11.

Born on the 22nd only.

Strengths
  • Breaks a big plan into doable steps
  • Sees long projects through to the end
  • Coordinates the work of many people
  • Brings order to a situation that fell apart

  • Gets rigid when the plan changes
  • Won't delegate
  • Sets the bar too high for others
